MEDIA SERVERS / TECHNICAL AND VIDEO SERVICES

In 2019, the IICON Stage debuted at Glastonbury’s Block9 as a platform for large-scale audiovisual performances. Dominated by a giant, anonymised head, the stage has been described as a pseudo-religious monument reflecting the emerging new realities of our digital, post-truth age.

Creative Technology, led by Connie Glover, provided Disguise media servers and projectors in collaboration with Millar to devise the infrastructure and systems for the IICON Stage. Equipment from Bild Studios, including the Disguise OmniCal cameras and VJ machines, was also utilised. Having well-maintained modern equipment was critical for the project's success. With the IICON Stage running for its fourth year in 2024, modifications were made to reduce equipment and simplify the setup.

Building IICON stage

“In the middle of a huge warehouse in Silvertown in east London, the founders of the festival’s raucous after-hours playground, Block9, unveiled its latest and most ambitious stage installation to date, IICON. IICON is a 65ft video-mapped 'anonymised head' with a holding capacity of 15,000 people” - Guardian News
